Breeding
WhyWeBreed
We breed so that we can produce long lined quality horses(dogs) as you would have in real life. The better the quality of the lines the better though of course you need to watch out for ceratin things.

Crossbreeds - You never want to breed together two different breeds as this will create a crossbreed horse. ONLY EVER use two animals of the same breed eg a welsh pony stallion with a welsh pony mare.

Inbreds - This is when a foal has the same horse(dog) in its lines more than once. It is vitally important that before you breed that you check all lines extremely carefully to ensure they don't clash. A horse with clahsing lines will lose almost all of its value no matter how high pointed.

Overbred - Some horses are what we call 'overbred' or may have horses who are overbred in their lines. What means overbred though depends on you as a player and also how old the horse is. Due to changes by HL that were instituted about 8months ago stallions can only breed once every 2 days. This means that if a stallion was to be bred every breedable day between the ages of 3 and 20 it could have a maximum of 64 foals. previously stallions could have literally thousands and many were known to have in excess of 3-5000 foals. These days because of the changes horses are not 'truely' overbred but many breeders have standards. Serious breeders like myself do not like to see a stallion having more than 5 foals (7 or 8 is passable at absolute most but would prefer 5). Mares are best having up to 3 at most 5 foals. If you have long lines on your horse though it may go back to the time before the breeding changes were introduced so for a stallion of that age to have 10 foals is acceptable, depending on the breeder. Whereever possible though a horse should never have another horse in its line with more than 10 offspring. Just remember that if double figures are reached its not good!

Stallions&Mares
Don't breed a mare and a stallion who have no points or below 3k as you are just breeding a foal who is worth very little. it is more sensible to go and buy another store horse yes it may cost $1k but it is overall worth much more. Comparitvely a store horse with 0 points is worth far more than a pure bred foal with 0 points.

Don't expect a top stallion owner to let you breed to their stallion for free or discounted even if the stud fee says $0 especially if your mare has very few points. most top stallion owners will have a code for breeding which normally goes along lines that mare must be the same breed as the stallion, that the mare must have over a certain number of points and must be pure with no inbred/crossbres lines etc. Don't break these or ask to break these as they are there for a reason. Normally breeding rules can be found on the horse's owner's page.

HowToBreed
Following the following guides of how to breed your mare or stallion:

HOW TO BREED YOUR MARE: To breed a mare of yours with a stallion you need to go to the stallion's page and click the link 'Breed one of your horses with this horse' you then need to chose the mare you wish to breed with that stallion (remember to make sure that she is the same breed and that she meets any requirements the stallion's owner may have on their page, also make sure you can afford the stud fee.). The stallion may have a waiting list system in place which means when you submit your mare you are not automatically guarunteed a foal. The stallion's owner firstly needs to approve your mare for breeding. this waiting list system is very common for higher pointed stallions, to make sure someone does not breed a low pointed mare with the stallion without consent.

HOW TO BREED YOUR STALLION: Once your stallion has reached its points goal you will want to breed from it either from your own mare or allow others to breed to him. There are two ways in which you can place him up for stud. The first method means that anyone who can afford the fee can breed whichever mare they want to your stud. This method is put in place when you fill in the stud fee and you also click the 'available for stud' box on his page. IF though you want your stallion only available to approved mares then you must ALSO tick the box that says 'Breed only with accepted mare?' just below the available for stud box. You will then receive a message to notify you whenever a mare is added to the stallions list, you can then choose to either breed the mare or delete the request.

HOW TO BREED YOUR MARE TO YOUR STALLION: you basically follow the above two sets of information. You make sure your stallion is available for stud then you click the link on his page saying 'Breed one of your horses with this horse' and select the mare. You will then if you have the list system have to approve your mare. Note whatever you have the stud fee set to you will pay to yourself so in essence the breeding is free!

YourNewFoal
A good estimate for the number of points a foal will gain on birth is to add together the stallions and mares points then divide by 40 add 300 and round up to the nearest point. This wont be the exact point number but does give a fairly accurate guide.

HowOften&When
It should be remembered that Mares can only breed once every 21 days so remember this when planning out your mares breedings in advance. Stallions on the otherhand can breed once every other day. Mares and Stallions can breed from the day they turn 3 until the last day they are 20. I advise not to breed till as late as possible to insure your foal gets as many points as possible at birth.
